How To Use Them
A portable GPS device will work just like any other GPS device except for its size. GPS stands for global positioning system.  A satellite in outer space sends out signals to the portable GPS device.  The portable GPS device receives the signals and calculates its location by timing the signals sent out by the satellite.  As long as the portable GPS device can receive the signal from the satellite you will be able to tell where you are and get directions to where you want to go.  Sometimes you may loose the signal if you go under a bridge or in a tunnel or if it is a cloudy day and the portable GPS device cannot get the signal thru the clouds.  If you are driving and you have a portable GPS device with you it is usually best to mount it near the windshield so it can pick up the signal from the satellite.  Sometimes in urban areas the tall buildings can block out the signal from the satellite.  Once you have a signal all you have to do is put in the address of the place you want to go to and the GPS device will show you how to get there.
